Grinding stone generates respirable crystalline silica and, when run wet, a large volume of alkaline slurry. The equipment that manages both is not an accessory in any meaningful sense; it decides whether the work can legally and practically proceed.
This category also covers the interface parts that wear out and are routinely reordered: backing plates, adaptors, hook-and-loop pads and hoses.

How to choose
The decisions that actually change the outcome, rather than the specifications that are easiest to compare.
- Filtration class, not suction alone
- Silica control depends on the filter's ability to retain respirable particles and on the machine's ability to keep that filter clear during use. Airflow figures alone say nothing about whether dust is being captured.
- Slurry volume matches the machine
- Recovery capacity has to match the machine's water use, or the crew spends the day emptying tanks. Slurry is also alkaline and abrasive, so it cannot go to a floor waste.
- Correct drive interface
- Backing plates and adaptors are the most common cause of tooling that will not fit or runs out of true. Confirming the interface before ordering avoids a stalled job.

- No extraction system removes the need for respiratory protection
- Containment slows work in occupied buildings and should be allowed for in programme
