Liquid and paste compounds for polishing, maintaining and hardening stone surfaces between full restoration cycles.
Compounds sit between abrasive tooling and maintenance chemistry. Some finish a polish, some harden the surface, and some are intended for routine upkeep of a floor that has already been restored.
They are most valuable in maintenance programmes, where they extend the interval before a floor needs mechanical work again.
What it is used for
- Finishing a polish on calcite stone after powder or pad work
- Scheduled maintenance polishing in commercial and strata settings
- Hardening softer stone surfaces to improve wear resistance
- Restoring gloss in traffic lanes without a full re-hone
How to choose
The decisions that actually change the outcome, rather than the specifications that are easiest to compare.
- Maintenance is not restoration
- A compound extends the life of an existing finish. Specified as a substitute for grinding and honing on a worn floor, it produces a short-lived gloss over damage that is still there.
- Compatibility with the existing finish
- Compounds interact with whatever sealer or previous treatment is present. Testing in an inconspicuous area first is quicker than reversing a bad reaction across a whole floor.
What it will not do
- Cannot correct scratches, etching or worn stone
- Effect is temporary and needs a maintenance schedule to be worth using
- Can build up over repeated applications if the surface is not properly cleaned
